Xaverian House @ St. John's Prep

       Xaverian House, a home for retired Xaverian brothers, sits on the grounds of Saint John's Preparatory High School in Danvers, Massachusetts.  The deck and porch were beautifully constructed with a pressure treated frame, mahoghany decking, and fir railings with 8x8 recessed posts.  The problem wast rapid rot of railings and balusters.

Parish Point 

                       Parish Point is a planned neighborhood of Victorian style town houses, condominiums, and single family homes in Everett.  The railings, the vertical porch enclosures under the stairs, and partitions separating the units across the rear decks are all vinyl.  The developer chose tan.

The six foot vinyl posts sleeve over a galvanized steel insert.  Bolted to the insert is an aluminum cross bar.  The cross bars are screwed into the wooden deck posts that came with the pre-fab units.  The partitions are lagged to the units.  The tan vinyl partitions aren't just decorative privacy, they complement and provide stability to the entire railing system.
